Question by cows4me79: We live in state funded housing, is this legal?
We live in “low revenue” or state funded houseing. We just recieved a letter stating that all renters require to get a photo ID from the office. Absolutely everyone more than the age of 12 has to get this ID. Is this legal? Do I actually have to have a “housing ID”? I do not understand why they are doing this? On our lease, it does say that we can have people keep with us for 30 consecutive days for each 1 year. How would they do this for these folks? I am just wondering why they are performing this and is this legal?
I noticed some individuals are remarking about jobs or taking from the government -I do have a job and so does my husband, but we can not afford an additional place due to the fact we have 3 kids and I am also a complete time student. We are saving up to get a property rather than renting yet another spot. I would never ever just accept assist with out operating for it. Also, we signed the lease over a year and a half ago, but now they are just beginning this ID factor. It is not in the lease at all. I don’t thoughts getting to get an ID, I am just not confident how this would aid the housing authority in the long run.

Since state funded housing is paid for by tax payers who are genuinely picky about how their funds gets spent. To have men and women living off of the government who do not have a need is stealing and cheating from me and other tax payers. Yes they can do that. They also want to know who is there is who is not I would think about for security. If you ever want freedom, don’t ask the government for anything at all.

you probablly signed an agreement to live in the state funded housing. you must comply to anything on this agreement.
Yes it is legal. They will site security reasons, but it is more likely to be their way of making sure that no one is “gaming the system” by illegally subletting the apartment, or taking illegal roommates. It also gives the funding entity an accurate headcount to match to their records.
They are doing this to keep your potential guests from getting over on the system. If it is subsidized, then they have the right to do it. They don’t want you to move someone likes your boyfriend in because they feel that if he is in the picture, then you can afford regular housing on your own.
